Colorado

We were up early today looking again and still nothing but feathers strewn about. I know nit to make decisions when emotions are high but there is now way my wife will want to go through this again...she's not one to get back on the horse as it were. So honestly, I need this stuff gone. So. I'll be pitting it up on craigslist soon. The coop is self made and is rock solid, just on the smaller side as it was meant for a small flock.

I am so sorry you are going through this.

I would just give yourselves a couple of weeks and then decide what to do with the stuff. Many of us have lost chickens to predators and it is an awful feeling, but I think there is a great deal of healing and just general well being that comes from having chickens/ pets in our lives. You may rethink your initial decision and rebuild and redo.

again to you both.

You're probably right but I didn't realize how much I loved those birds. People keep birds for all sorts of reasons and mine were many too, but I actually enjoyed them...just watching them do their thing every day. And like many people, I too suffer from a condition in which things li ke this...caring for other things as a form of therapy, really helped me.

We keep finding feathers on our property... I know theyre gone so I wish the Colorado wind would for once do something helpful and take them away. But it rained so much last night so nno wi nd and the feathers are stuck to the grass, hanging on like a painful memory!

It seems so silly to be so sad over birds, but I am and I have to go to work and take care of my 2 year old, who keeps asking to see the girls, and not be all sad and sniffing. I've lost a lot of loved pets in the past and I can assure you it never gets easier.

Sybil, Helen and Edith were amazing chickens...the best buff orpingtons I have ever met. They brought fun and joy to my life...for that I'm so grateful to them. It was a short time they were with me but they made a long lasting impact on me.

If anyone needs or know someone who needs silkie hens 1-2yrs old, I will have probably 6-8 blacks and 2 or 3 buffs for sale at the Brighton Bird Swap at 7am at the Co-op building on Bromley lane. Will have a black pickup with a maroon camper shell on the bed. Asking $15 a piece for the hens. These are older birds I have bred from, but have chicks growing and need to cull out my unwanted birds. They look awful right now, have been either molting or laying but once they have a new home, they will look great again. Also have unsexed chicks in black, partridge and mixed colors, older Dutch rooster and 4 hens, and several young Dutch roosters.

Hola, everyone!

A fellow BYCer who's too busy to post on his own made up twice as much feed at the mill as he needed to- a very high-quality feed that consists of Ultra Kibble, milk replacer and some other grains and whatnot. He has starter and grow-out feed, which will be perfect for anyone growing out decadent meaties or expensive birds. Because the feed is so exceedingly nutritious, they will eat less and have less waste.

He's got at least 15 extra 50# bags of it at $30 per bag, with a discount if you buy several. He's located in Norwood, Colorado.

Let me know if anyone is interested!

We will have 2 week old straight run chicks available Sunday the 10th.

These will be Easter Eggers/Ameracuanas, Barred Rocks, Rhode Island Reds, White Leghorns, and Buff Orpingtons. No guarantees on breed or sex although we will do our best to provide you with a good mix.

These are all great egg laying breeds and they will provide you with a rainbow of eggs; blues, greens, white, browns and pinks. They will start laying at about 4 months old and will lay through the winter if you provide them with a warm coop and warm water throughout the winter.

Chicks will be available for pick up starting on Sunday afternoon/evening. We would prefer if you picked them up on Sunday, but if we need to, we can hold them for a few days.
$4.00 per chick.
$3.00 each if you get a dozen.
$2.50 each if you get 2 dozen.

Feel free to PM or e-mail me if you have any questions or to make your order. We are located in Parker right off of 470 and Parker Rd.

Andrew
