Welcome! I hope you are happy in Colorado! I have a friend who has lived in Eaton for years, she loves it up there and wouldn't consider anywhere else. Good luck with your move!

Oh you are all making me feel so much better about this! Thank you! It is encouraging that you know someone that lives there too. Does she have chickens? I plan to try to move a handful of my favorites but will need to part with the majority. Then once we are settled , really start over.

My son is going to be a JR in HS this year, so I hesitate to move him. He has some physical disabilities that I feel may make it hard for him to "blend" in to a new school. He has been through enough so we will give him the option of moving now or after HS. If thats the case, my husband will move in Sept, and we or I (if DS chooses to attend a MT college) will relocate in 2 years. So in the mean time I will spend next summer and an occasional weekend and holiday in CO.

Thank you! Three Forks area is so beautiful! My BIL is in the AF and just transfered from Great Falls base to DC. We are only about an hour from your son. Thank him for me the next time you talk with him

Who plans on going to the swap in Denver tomorrow? Do they usually have ducks and geese?

Another qestion: One of my little K Campbell hens has started doing her innocent little "come and get me" noise along with a "squat"

But the boys haven't the slightest clue what they're supposed to. They just walk around her and frantically make noises. So how long after the hens start this do they start laying? I've currently got 3 males (KC, Blk Runner, Pekin) and 3 girls (2 KC, 1 Rouen) I know I need more hens and have a plan to pick a couple up from Zilla but how many should I have to keep the 3 males relatively argument free?

How awesome! I would not have known this even existed! Thank you! I will be sure and use this in my attempt to persuade him. LOL

I'm in Black Forest NE of Colorado Springs. My kids saw some sebrights at the fair and won't stop bugging me to add some of these cuties to our flock. I don't want to place another hatchery order this year. Anyone have some for sale?? Looking for at least one gold and one silver, preferably hens or pullets.

Also wondering if there are any local standard breed breeders in the front range area with hens for sale. Looking to add some breeder quality hens to our flock for 4H shows. My son received a perfect score on showmanship, but lost out due to bird quality. We'll be working on separate housing and improving care for show birds, but would also like to locate the best quality birds we can. Interested in Dominiques, Silver laced wyandotte, and other rose comb breeds.

I would recommend getting out to some of the 4H shows and asking around or asking the owners if the bird they are showing is for sale, or if they have others. I was just down at the Douglas county show and there are quite a few birds available for sale. Saw a really nice looking polish that I'm considering!

Don't stick to just your county's fair, check other counties and maybe you'll find some nice lines and genetics that will do great in your county!
