So I was raised on a farm-- back east, just outside of Hershey PA, but I've lived many places since, mostly in bigger metro areas-- and I cannot tell you how excited I get when I get to go into a farm/country store where you can buy a chain saw, dog food, boots, jeans and a salt lick all in the same place. WOO!

BTW-- originally went to buy a bag of DE... I have four chickens, and the bag was HUGE. I think I'll pass, unless someone is keen on splitting a bag with me.

I was in Clifton Murdochs today, My favorite store Ever, Especially when they have a SALE! I am also from PA. Chester County. Frequently went to Hershey which is only 1 Hour Away.

The NWS is forecasting in the ballpark of 15 inches for the P Divide! Woo! So glad I built my coop very sturdy.

I need to clean out the coop today, toss the aquarium heating into the bucket and time it to cycle on and off...I'm making the water liquid, not tea! And I may or may not toss a tarp around the run...I'm thinking it's unlikely that'll happen as I have a million things to do today.

Be safe everyone, sounds like this one just might be a good one! The water is always appreciated.

I live on the Palmer Divide as well and something is for sure moving in. Coops cleaned another layer of shavings and best of all? My first aqua egg!!!! Thanks to my little sweet little EE Ashley!! So excited !!! Just wished I had stacked the firewood Wonder what it will be like tomorrow morning when I leave for work the blizzards out in this area not fun.....but very pretty.

I maybe the worst, but I have never given my birds heat during the winter. they do have a custom built outdoor run with a type of a clear corrigated paneling that allows for solar and protection from the wind. I did have my RIR roo and my brown leghorn get their combs froz. but that was my fault for not putting Vasoline on them before it got really cold. I do drop off in egg production but they always have protection, deep litter, heated water bowel, free food and new this year are 'chichen round top quansite huts'. They are window wells. I have never lost a bird to the cold. We live at 7000 ft. Rained alot this afternoon expect snow this evening.

Ruralmom how did you secure the window wells? Are they in the ground or somewhere else? Pics if you have them pls?

But I have the fireplace roaring and everyone is safe and warm. The chickens have been given some scratch and they are refusing to leave the coop...don't blame them. Looks like a sleepy day for them.

Moderate snow here in Franktown. The horses have ice hanging from their fuzz. The puppy doesn't know what to think of it. The cat won't go near it. The girls just stared off into the distance when I opened the coop door this morning. Ryan, are you a vet at F.A.C.?
