I am looking in to home remedies people have found that help chickens regulate there temperature during hot weather. Any one have any ideas?

i've heard a few things about apple cider vinegar with the water helping regulate during cold and hot temps, but i haven't done any of the research personally

yay!! some rain!
Its not a ton, but its enough to get the sidewalks wet and at this point its a miracle for it to even make it to the ground!

I can see into the foothills in the direction of the highpark fire and could see some rain falling in that direction too. Lets hope they got dumped on!

Someone said that Apple Cider Vinegar would raise there metabolism and that sounds good for winter but like it might over heat them in the summer???? I really am not sure on but I am getting worried since when I brought them in tonight my two little dark ones were panting for hours and it could not have been over 80 in the garage when I keep them at night.

NICE! I have a friend in NH that has a very good breeding flock of Dorkings, several types. He usually has eggs available in the spring.....

Where did you get them? I want to see pics when they arrive! Dorkings are cool..(But Doms are cooler...

Joe, what is the going price of feed at Sweeny's? something like all flock pellets...
I got the Dorkings from Ideal Hatchery in TX. I will get some pics when I get them. I need to get some pics of everything...will have to wait for DW to come home...she has the good camera. DW been gone for almost 2 months now!!! Mom has cancer back home and she also had to ram-rod the repairs of our house in Illinois....got hit by tornado!

I'll be seeing her soon.

The Sweeny's feed runs between $13-$16 per bag, depending on what you get. I do not use pellets anymore, seems the girls like crumbles more. So the 16% crumbles run about $16.00 bag (50lb) I usually always get 2-3 bags.....So for an exact figure I would have to check. Also, I found that where I buy it can change the cost. If you buy it at the big feed store it is a little less than buying it at a satellite store.

Oh, almost forgot....the feed store only carries 16% feed.....so I buy some 18% crumbles at BigR ever once-in-a-while to mix things up.
