Does displacing a bully chicken do anything to cure them of it?  Would a new enviroment and new chickens with there own structure have the effect to tame a bully or only make them worse?

It can. In my case the 'bully' was a highly dominant hen who didn't have the umf to take down the reigning queen. The reigning queen, however, didn't really police the flock, you just better respect her and her sister. So Freckles was left with two lower hens to take out her frustrations on. She mostly targeted the lowliest of my girls, the flighty Hamburg, Salsa. But in a different flock with stronger dynamics there was every chance that she would change her ways. Particularly since the new flock had a rooster and no flighty breed birds.

I never followed up on her to see if the change of flocks worked but I am hopeful.

Thank you, no that is a photo a one of my first homebreds "Classy" MVFClassicBourbon.

She is now 10 years old she rides and drives. Friends of mine have her now, she loves to drive her and all the grandkids ride her and she can cut a cow. She loves to work cows.

I just love my Rockys, the smooth ride and great temperment.
I have a 4 year old that I am starting when it cools off some more. A blue roan filly.umbup:

All of these are just beautiful. I love Classy's coloring, she is beautiful and looks to be very graceful too. Would love to see a pic of your blue roan filly. I have a quarter horse mare, Cherry 10 yrs, she's built like a brick house, so that beauty is a little harder to see sometimes. I also have a 2 yo colt who is 1/2 hancock bred quarter horse, 1/4 arabian, and 1/4 mustang, he has the beauty and grace of an arabian, with the endurance of arabian and mustangs, along with the height of the quarter and a thinking mind like the hancock line. He is supposed to turn out to be Rose Grey in color. He actually looked burgandy/purple when he was about 4-5 months old. Now he's a darker brown with a lot of white coming in and a lot of white in a black/red tail and mane. He's a handful and I'm thinking of training him for ranch sorting.

An animal who causes harm to other animals is a time bomb. Better to butcher your girl than to find yourself wanting to wring her neck in anger after she has injured or killed another. I am sorry it was not correctable.

Yep, if it can be fixed it's beyond my abilities to do so. From what I read, not many would even try. Too bad, she's a beautiful girl. But, like someone once said..... "Pretty is as pretty does."

She had her chance, should have taken it.

On a lighter note, fixed up the passageway (can you say 'johnnyrig?) between the run and what's left of my garden today and set the girls free. They were a little hesitant to explore, spent about the first 1/2 hour hugging the entryway, but there were plenty of weeds to keep the occupied on the fringes there. They finally made it all the way over to the other side when I went over there, held up a ripe tomato and called, chick chick chick. There they discovered (after checking out the plants), the BEST dust bathing area ever.

I guess you could call them happy as hens in dirt.

LOL sounds like they had a blast! I got all my tomato cages removed but the two girls who are allowed free range didn't even notice - kind of surprised me, really. Won't be long before the Sussex Sisters get free time, just scared right now, they can still fly pretty well. They have definitely gotten bigger the last two weeks, and redder. Looking forward to seeing them all graze

Got my new coop insulated, finally, now just have to cover with plywood and put in a couple of roosts, then attach to the run - which to me sounds so fast when I type it, but Bob assures me it will be two or three weekends before it's ready. Oh well. Progress is progress. I guess if I hadn't decided to try canning this year it would be further along by now, but then I wouldn't have food put up for winter Never enough time and/or energy to do everything I want to get done. Makes me wish I had all the time I wasted in my 20s and 30s ... and ... etc.

Hmm well if you haven't already done her in I can try! My girls are big and bossy and maybe she'll tame the BR some. I'm in class til 9 tomorrow nite but the campus is down on your side of town. I'll send you a PM

sad day.
This morning i found out an old friend drown. He threw his life jacket to a friend that couldn't swim when their canoe tipped while fishing. The friend made it, he didn't.
He would have been 26 on thurs.
