I have 10 Ranger pullets laying now, most eggs are large to medium in size, brown color, and so far all fertile when cracked open. I have never hatched any but have some being set this week for incubation. My rooster is 11 months old and weighs about 11 pounds.

I butchered 11 roosters from this batch from JM Hatchery. They were about 14 weeks old and I had dressed out carcasses ranging from 2.5-5 pounds. Not sure why there was such a difference. I have been eating them since and they are delicious, very meaty legs and wings, with a nice sized breast. I raised these birds partially free range and fed generously twice a day. I feel that if I had contained them more the birds would have been larger faster.

If you are interested in some of these eggs please let me know. Thanks

I hope a few of you might be interested. I believe they are all laying right now, though i have yet to get 10 eggs in one day. We'll have way more eggs than we can use.

In general, how long would you say it takes these birds to grow out to a good table weight? I'd probably keep them in a moveable pen.
I've been considering these birds, but didn't want to get shipped chicks... so excited to see eggs available.

HEY YOU!! How is the hatch going?!

I'm excited!
Anotehr guy had 27 out of 36 - a little low for my liking, but that's pretty good

What's the rate at? How many you think will hatch? When IS hatch date?

I butchered mine at about 14 or 15 weeks and they were at a good table weight then. I can say there was a big range in size and meatiness on them. Not sure why, I free ranged them part time and fed twice a day. I think with more confinement and maybe free feeding they would get larger faster.

Thank you for your interest.

and L-G-B.. too funny! I just sent you a PM! It's day 20 right now and I have 2 pips!!

nice looking birds.those hens are huge, just look at the little dog in the backgroud.
i just wish i could eat my own birds but i can't,can't,can't.

I'm glad this is running for a few more days... I have to work on the DH some more. I mentioned raising meat birds in the tractor and he just sort of laughed at me. We've talked about doing it before, so it's not a new idea, but it wasn't a good day yesterday... I got ornery and irritable so it wasn't a good time for a discussion.

I have a hatch in progress right now, so this would be very good timing for me..... I should be back!

Yeah you weenie you got me dancing around in the house this morning! I was anxious!!!
Arrggg!!!!!

I wish you lived closer, we could share Free Rangers <3 I've wanted to try them... still like how the cornish only take 6-8 weeks to mature, but we cna't have everythign! *pouts*

I have been looking at these birds for a while and would really like to have some, but I think I read that they are a hybrid, and so would not breed true. Do you know for sure? Just curious
