An odd question, but...how would one go about breeding a chicken that has more colorful facial features such as the green junglefowl has?
(Not my photo):
It seems that the greens can shift these pigments. It also seems that even F1 crosses only ever have solid red or black combs and wattles. I'm a bit confused as some sources say the hybrids are sterile, and some say they may be back-crossed? Are there any good sites on skin color genetics? Has anyone tried to breed for more colorful combs?
