But how in the world do you get a SPLASH from a black and a white pairing??? That's the part that has me confused. I think he is black with a LOT of white mottling.

The Paints are white with black mottling.

The Black may have been a Dark Blue. The White could have been dominant white masking another color.

I'd say splash too. but with too much of the darker color. He also has some brown in his hackles and cape. Who knows what his genetics carry!
