I got really excited about this thread because I have the same issues/questions as the OP... aaand then I realized this thread is 5 years old. Anyone know what happened to this project?!

I understand some of the terms like blue vs. buff, but then you start getting into barred and speckled and whatnot and I get lost because I can't find simple illustrations. Help?
