I was wondering for EE if the adult colors of the chickens determine how the babies look or when they were younger. Like for instance if you had two chickens both start yellow one turns white and one turns black would the chicks for both have chances to be yellow or just start white and black. Same for a rooster EE because they are so colorful would the chicks look like them as a chick. I would like to have all kinds of colors of babies and am just trying to find the best way to do it. I bought more EE and some started red I had two start gray. The red turned black and white one gray turned dusty and one ray is nearly solid black. Is it the genetics that determine chick color or how the adult looks. Also how can I know why chicken lays which egg? Do I need to set up a camera or is there something I can do to figure it out?

I do not know about EE color genetics, but I have heard that you can put a tiny bit of food coloring on the hens vents, and then match the color to the egg after they lay.
