Oh the Roo thing!!! goodd luck - as I have always said Pekins make lots of Roos - but they are taking over the world lol

Yes them pesky roo's such a shame we only need one to do the job when they look so lovely but sound so loud!! Always look for homes if possible don't like to kill them unnecessarily

but already have 2 and a small flock of hens so more is not an option to keep.

Just wanted to ask Bantm lovers, how do you keep their feathered feet dry when it pours, I have been using paper towels to soak up the excess it is the least invasive way I can think of - des anyone else have a problem.. when it rains?

Welcome to Backyard chickens. When you have 20 posts you can participate in the BYC Buy,sell, trade forum. They even have a section for "animals for free rehoming."

That's great to know thank you I didn't realise there was such a thing just getting used to the forum!

I keep my Pekins on mostly gravel the fairly big round kind of stuff as I find this helps no end to keep their feet cleaner and drier as the rain drains through the gravel. Also when you rake over it the droppings fall between the stones and break down quicker. They can scratch down to the soil to peck about in and they have a dry soil area under their coop to dust bathe in.
