Hello from a new member in the mid-west US.
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I am new to chickens. Our babies came home just under two weeks ago.
(2/3) How many chickens do you have right now?
5: 2 Barred Rock, 3 Rhode Island Red
(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?
I have heard wonderful things from local friends with urban backyard flocks.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Foraging (for human food), fiber art, growing food, cooking
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I live in a depressed neighborhood just west of downtown Columbus with my 4 year-old son and professional guitarist husband. We are flock-sharing with our next door neighbors with the coop and run between our houses. I am an urban homesteader, and I'm beginning to teach related topics for a meager income bump to our non-traditional household finances. Columbus, Ohio is thriving, and tons of people are moving rapidly down a path of urban homesteading. It's positively inspirational!
