Hi, I have a rooster named Lucky, almost 1 years old I believe. Australorp. We had a really cold night and I went outside to feed and he had frostbite on his comb and wattles. This was not there yesterday. He seems to be eating and drinking fine and not in too much pain to not terrorize me, so still acting normal. This is the best photo I could get, he's never cooperative with photos. What do I do and what do I expect? I can't take him inside because I have no available cages so I understand I probably can't treat it properly. Any help is appreciated, please and thank you.

He will be okay, especially if it's just at the ends. I just leave them alone. Most of my larger combed roosters lose their points off their combs. Occasionally you may see swelling. Everything will heal and the tissue will eventually fall off. It may take a few months.

you can prevent frostbite if you keep their coop dry and free of drafts but still well ventilated.

I had a rooster that was out in a shed meant for cows and there are a lot of cracks and it was drafty and the rooster got frostbite on his comb and all his comb points froze off.
but now all my chickens are in nice coops and not getting frostbite
