My SF has always had a pinkish color comb. She started laying about 2 weeks ago. Her comb has a greyish hue around the top now. I expected her to get redder. She is in great spirits, acting normal, eating normal, foraging. I wouldn’t guess it was frostbite, since my two breeds with big straight combs have no markings on their combs. Wondering if it could be dry skin, or some kind of fungal issue? I zoomed in on a pic from last week when it was be er cold (hence her fluffing out), but I’ll grab another pic when I go out to get eggs.

I believe it's just cause of the cold weather, mine look like that too sometimes.
Thanks, I hope so! It’s so weird she’s the only one with it! I have an anti fungal if needed. DH thinks I worry too much. I tell him I just like to catch things early and an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

Hopefully it isn't fungal, I don't think it is.
But do get another picture just to make sure.

Here are two more:

Just thinking, she usually lays every day (only started about 2 weeks ago). She didn’t lay yesterday or the day before. Will wait & see if she lays today.

I actually think that may be some frostbite on the comb toward the rear and on a couple of tips, but it looks as though it may heal. Time will tell. I don’t ever apply sprays, creams, or ointments to the comb for treatment or prevention of frostbite, since those may freeze and cause more damage.

Thank you. I wonder if she went in with her beard damp and it evaporated up to her comb? I have a ton of ventilation on the roofline & windows on the high side opposite the roosts…just trying to figure out why she would have it but my two huge single comb birds don’t. Neither of them have beards though, and my only other two bearded birds have small pea combs .
