Bumblefoot For Almost 8 Months

I changed the dressing for the second time this morning. I soaked her foot for a while then used a iodine scrub, applied prid and neosporin and then dressed with gauze and vet wrap. Looking at the image, is this looking good five days after surgery?

Thanks for your reply. Ive just applied some prid and wrapped her foot. I'll do the same again Sunday and Wednesday and remove rhe scab next weekend.

This is awesome! I was coming on here to sing the praises of PRID because my dad told me about it. Clearly people are already using it here, so I can be the choir you all are preaching to!
I had to bath/scrape/wrap last night with one of my gals. She was lethargic & hardly eating. Today she’s active, eating & spunky again! I just love it when you see immediate results from care! It warms my heart.

It looks like a little remnants of the scab around the edge as seen on the left side of your photo. I`m not sure all of the infection is out where you removed the scab. My hen had a similar look as yours. I tried to use a tweezer to remove some of the yellowish abnormal skin around the edge and in the middle. Then More betadine and neosporin, rewrap and see how it looks in a couple of days. If it looks better just keep putting neosporin on it and of course rewrap it. You might have to use prid to try and draw the infection out again. After I removed her scab I dug some cheesy yellow infection from the hole. You may not have gotten it all out. It took twice before my bird healed up. At any rate see how it looks in a couple of days and go from there.

Okay, I took more scab off yesterday, and there doesn't seem to be anymore infection in there I soaked her feet beforehand, applied vetericyn, and for the first time I started applying sugardine after which I wrapped her foot. The image is from this morning after I'd soaked and washed her foot It's looking a lot better imo. Ive applied the sugardine again, and will continue to do so daily and keep you posted.

It is looking way better! I think that really helped taking the scab remnants off! Keep up he good work! I think she will be fine!

Soaked and redressed her foot again this morning, and there's definitely further improvement. It's been surprisingly dry for a good few weeks here in the UK, but as rain is expected I used a hydrocolloid dressing on her foot today to ensure it stays clean. I'll leave the dressing on until Thursday, when Im sure Ill sure even further improvement.

I'll leave the dressing on until Thursday, when Im sure Ill sure even further improvement.

Yes! It`s getting there! Good job! I would keep wrapping it until it looks completely normal. Might be good to put some neosporin on it ( not sure you have that brand in the UK it is just a triple antibiotic ointment) until then. Thats what I did until completely healed. I think that helps the final stage of healing. Glad she`s on the mend! It is very gratifying to help a bird back to health!
