Noticed today that my White Star hen Twinkle (as named by my daughter) has lost some color in the middle of her comb and it's pretty floppy. She just started laying a week ago, not sure if this is normal or not. My wife says I'm acting like a hypochondriac!

Is she currently laying? Sometimes chickens will have bright rosy combs when they are in lay that turn a dull pink color when they are not. It could also simply just be dry skin. It *could* be frostbite turning the comb color but usually it turns black. You can still rub some Vaseline on her comb to prevent frostbite just in case.

She just started laying a week ago...I'm going to buy some vaseline tomorrow
