Comb injury

I just walked outside and my barred rock hen’s comb was cut and hanging off the back. What do I need to do?

Clean the wound with warm water and a wash clothe and then apply blue kote to the wound so the other birds won’t peck at it.

Keep an eye on her to make sure she doesn't become a pecking target. Combs can bleed a lot, so you may need to give it a day or two to make sure it's not going to restart.
Do you know how it happened? I'd look around for anything she may have gotten hung up on.

Bluekote can be a good antiseptic, but blood on a comb doesn't really need to be covered up...so any antibiotic ointment will help it heal.

How did she get cut...fight or head stuck in something?

I think there was some exposed wire in their Chunnel but we fixed everything sharp so hopefully it won’t happen again.

I’m guessing she just got hung up on some wire but if so that won’t be the case anymore.
