Comb is DEEP Red

Sometimes a hens comb will darken right before laying. My LH’s comb is darker red when it’s cold. My SLW’s comb changes color when she’s having a hissy fit. It happens.

Hey guys I was free ranging my hens when I saw my barred rock had a deep red comb almost purple color. So, I just want to know if this is normal. Thanks in advance!

She looks o.k. to me.
One thing I would do on a regular basis is check to make sure her crop is empty in the mornings before she has had anything to eat/drink.
BR can be robust and good eaters, so no problems there But it's always a good idea to do occasional crop checks on all your chickens, this way if there are any issues you can catch it early and correct them.

They have food in their coop but, I wake up at 6:00 in the morning before they have any food. So, I’ll definitely check her crop. It may not be her crop but you always gotta be on the safe side

I have several that have very full crops at night, but they are empty by morning.
I do check regularly though.

I think your girl is fine. The comb can fluctuate in color throughout the day. Say nice and rosy early in the day before they lay an egg, then it's paler after the egg is laid.
Purple can indicate problems so keep a watch on that. Usually there is nothing that can be if it's organ/heart related.

If she isn't laying yet, she's about to be. Nice looking hen. The comb will get a deeper red like that when they are about to lay and after they are laying.

She has been laying for about a month now 1 large egg every day I just checked up on her she seems fine now I hope that her comb is back to normal in the morning as well as her crop

I didn't mean to scare you, it's just a good habit to get into about checking crops and giving your hens a good feel up every once and a while
