Comb-less giants

Cornish x tend to have small single combs, though actual Cornish[which the crosses really don't contain much of after years of selective breeding] have pea combs.

Thanks for the feedback. "Rappy" ( aka velociraptor lol) is still an instigator. Looks like she is maintaining the look of a pullet, I'm trying not to get attached but the quirky personality is hard not to like, especially since I discovered she likes to nap in my lap today. I guess it's still a waiting game until I see the final feathers to figure out what she is. :( part of likes the surprise....but I think more hates the waiting!

Well as more feathers come it's face will go red, or not and that will tell you whether it is male or female

Just a warning, every chick that is pretty with a good disposition that I get attached to ends up being a rooster

Ya I've noticed they tend to be the ones out front. :) we will see. I have two right now that I know for sure are Roos. These two in still on the fence about.

Update! This week I am noticing more red on the face. I'm going to share some pics...the most suspicious ones :/
400
this is Rappy now.
400
always in the middle of everything and watchful...
400
especially watchful of ways to boss the smaller birds...
400
and the first to be aggressive if anyone moves to fast
400
and often gets ruffled lol.
Any thoughts anyone has on this would be great. Thanks!

Sadly, I am pretty sure at this point that that is a cockerel :(. Has the classic large pea comb of a male,
Also seems to be some kind of cross because those type of colors tend to only show up in males when red and silver are mixed for more than one generation.

Hmm. He came from ideal hatchery. That's what's throwing me off. I've been thinking roo but cannot figure out what kind.

It's possible he is an easter egger [sold as Ameraucana] since they have mixed ancestry. Pea combs are common in EE and although they are usually bearded, beardless can happen, too. They usually have green legs, but not always.
