I noticed today that my Cochins comb is torn. It looks scabbed and crusty. Any advice on how to treat? Or just let it be? There was some blood spatter in their coop yesterday but there was no explanation for it, did not notice the torn comb yesterday but wondering if that is where the blood came from.

It appears to be healing nicely. Is there a rooster in the flock ? If so it might be a good idea to remove him until she is healed.

No, I don’t have a rooster. I was holding her to look at it and when I put her back in the run my Easter Egger seemed to notice it and gave it a little peck but now they are paying her no attention and to be honest, I might not have noticed it had I not been giving her a cuddle. She is my sweetest chicken. It does look like a bit of an old wound from the color?
