Need some advice about on my Easter egger. She is 24 weeks old and I’ve noticed her comb isn’t growing like my others. It’s also pale and looks dry to me. Is this normal? Other than some loose stool, she is acting normal. I started adding a multivitamin to their water just to be safe.

EE have pea combs so they are rather small.
She may just be a late bloomer.
Do you have other birds of the same breed and age?

What all and how exactly are you feeding?
They should get all the vitamins/minerals/amino acids they need from a decent chicken ration.

I have 2 other birds the same age - 1 buff Orpington and 1 blue Plymouth. She’s my only Easter egger for now!

I’m giving them Texas Natural Feeds Elite Chick Starter. I have 2 sets of a 1 gallon feeder that I have on each side of the run and let them eat as they want. I plan to switch to a grower mix when this feed is gone, it’s just lasted longer than expected.

My lavender orpington was like this until nearly 8 months old. I thought something was wrong but then suddenly she matured and became a perfectly healthy, laying hen. I think she’ll come around!

Then she is just not mature. Sometimes, birds coming into lay in the winter are just slow, just not enough light to make them mature. Sometimes you will get early maturing birds that will lay in December (me this year, for the first time ever).
