My frizzle rooster is down, He normally has a very red comb, about 5 months old. I am very new to owning chickens. Last night it got very cold, but they were all in the coop (same chickens since we got them in Sept, except this Roo as a baby chick from neighbors flock). All of them were totally fine, when it was lights out.
it was 8 degrees outside last night coop temp 30- other hens and roo were all up and about in the am. The coop water froze, but they have heated water outside and at noon when I checked them and put in fresh water INSIDE the coop was when I found him.
All cuddled down in the corner, like a hen on eggs, head down, comb not bright red. I don't feel any think in his crop, but again new to chickens - it is possible I don't know what I am looking for.
Comb is now pinkish gray, he open his eye if I pick him up, doesn't appear injured, make no chirps like normal, moves his legs (have 2 little mini asshole roosters, but they have been "talked to" by this roo.. thought they had their pecking order all figured out. No blood that I can see- he is black feathers
He moves his legs and adjusts his wings, opens eyes when I pick him up. He has been in the house - trying to warm him up for about 6 hours now. Put water near his beak and his favorite meal worms... not touching any of it. Not acting any better.
How do I get him to take water?
