Help!!

Three days ago I noticed my bantam cochin rooster was a little squinty looking. I had just cleaned out their pens so I assumed it was because of the dust. Then yesterday he still looked a little squinty but then he was limping. I picked him up and discovered he had scaly leg mites and feather lice!!! I rarely pick him up because he doesn’t like it except maybe once a month to check him over, nail trims etc… anyway I immediately separated him, soaked his legs in oil twice that day and put a couple drops of stock guard on him. Gave him some eggs with chick feed and sav a chick in his water. This morning when I went to check on him he’s gotten worse, he’s huddled and hunched down, still limping, has a pale comb and a wet poopy butt. I did get him to eat some eggs and wet chick feed but I’m worried he won’t make it. Please, what should I do!! What else can I try? I feel so bad, I treated the whole flock for both to be safe but nobody has it like he did.

I'm sorry about your rooster, do you have photos of him?

Did you put undiluted Stock Guard on him? Where on the body did you put it and how much?

Any lesions or bumblefoot on the feet?

I'd work getting fluids into him. If you have electrolytes, provide those.

Hi, thank you so much for your reply!!

I will get a photo this morning, I used undiluted stock guard concentrate. Normally I’d make a dip but I was worried that getting him wet would cause too much additional stress. So I put a couple drops above his vent and one drop high on the back of his neck, applied directly to the skin. I have been checking the area as I know irritation can occur and there’s no major redness or anything.

I thoroughly checked his foot and leg and there are no lesions, bumblefoot, redness of anything other than the scaly leg mites.

I thought maybe it’s anemia for the parasite overload, he still has an appetite so I gave him some Greek yogurt with spinach, cat food, banana and egg yolks all blended together. Which he has been eating. I thought I’d offer him some tuna later. I put sav a chick in his water and it’s supposed to be full of vitamins and electrolytes.

Any ideas on what else could be wrong or any other things I could try or do would be so appreciated!!!

Here are the pictures I just took. I added one of his poop, it looks okay I think, just a little loose. Nothing watery, foul smelling or bad colors that I can see. I also added a pic of his bum and his feet. Please excuse his dirty beak, he’d just been eating the spinach and yogurt mash I made him.

I wound use the Stock Guard undiluted. Its very concentrated, so I'd worry that undiluted it could be toxic.

I'd work on hydration and getting him to eat his normal feed.
