Comb/Red Part Dry...

Is the red part on the hens head dry due to lack of getting enough water? Do you think? I am guessing here. I just bought her yesterday. It's not as supple and soft and red and my chicken I own already.

I don't know the name of her she has like a weird spiky top - reminds me of Tina Turner. Her tail feathers kind stick straight out the back. She's pretty white with some light brown tones.

Does anyone know if water is reason for her being dry in the the comb/face/wattles/earlobe?

Could be lack of water or not enough shelter from bad weather.
Is she a polish?

try putting some vaseline on it that may help. I red that on a thread her and tried int on my hens that had a pale come and it seemed to brighten them up a bit

I'm gonna try more water and use Snowflake's idea of the vaseline too. Yeah, she came from a farm here in GA and was outside in a huge chicken wire cage with no protection from the cold. See I don't have more than 2 or 3 hens so if the temps reach real low in the 20's instead of wrapping the outside big dog cages with blankets and such I just bring them inside. If not I worry too much about them freezing out there. I have 2 hens now. I use real big dog cages with newspaper on the bottom that I change out everyday. I added some hay over in the corner for nesting and warmth. There is a perch rod that runs across each of them for perching. Water/food in both cages. My hen (cochin partridge) she has a real red comb and is very healthly. This new one is probably a Polish. I looked it up and the spiky top looks like that online.

I know there "just chickens" my husband says they have a pea brain but they really do have personalities and I just love them.
