Comb won't stop bleeding!

I have a small flock of 7 chickens and today it appears that my most dominant one was challenged and a chunk of her comb was nearly pecked off! The back quarter is no longer attached at the base and I can't get the bleeding stopped with pressure, every time I do she shakes her head and it starts all over again! She has blood running down her face and into her eyes and I don't know what else to do...HELP!!!

Try applying corn starch to her comb if you do not have access to a styptic pencil to stop the bleeding. If you have or can get alum, this should work.

You could also try putting ice on it to slow the bleeding.

An 'old time' cure which also works is to apply spider webs to the wound - lots of spider webs.

The cornstarch seems to be working! Thank you everyone, I'm having a rough couple of days with my girls! I have another one that doesn't seem to be feeling well but isn't really showing and symptoms of anything besides being tired!
