The comb on our Rhode Island Red is separated from her head on the back edge. From her face and toward the back, the comb is attached. Just a tiny bit is standing up. There is no bleeding, no sign of injury, she seems perfectly fine. I heard molting starts with the head, does the comb get replaced too? Hope this isn't a dumb question.

Thanks. But what I wonder too is, can the dangling comb catch on something? Have your hens' combs always stayed slightly unattached with no problem?

the comb is not missing, just raised a tiny bit from the hens head.
