Some tracks require stock trucks only to keep the race fair. You can do fancy paint jobs or whatnot, but the truck itself must be stock. Perhaps they have stock races there? If it's the trucks, you might get lucky and get a two-wheel-drive Traxxas Slash that is out-of-the-box ready and can go. Then all you have to worry about is fixing it if gets damaged during the race. On the track that I know of, you can even rent a truck for the race. There is a nice RC car track in Novelty MO not too far from us. Our problem is that we need RC dune buggies to drive around our property. No concrete to be found except our shop floor. BIG dune buggies or make a hard packed dirt track to drive on.
We haven't ventured to the Novelty track. Our cars are entry level and these guys are into it with some serious vehicles.
I do know that every track is different, so it really helps to know which one provides which. If it's a very popular track though, they may have different options if you're interested.
