OK, so I hear there is some kind of chicken that lays black eggs, something like a King Kong something or other. I swear I didn't dream this up , and no I don't drink either. The man that is importing them is supposed to be saving me some eggs and I don't even know what this chicken is. Does anybody else know what I'm talking about.

OK Schultz that's gotta be them because he said they were gonna be partridge and there is a partridge penedesenca listed on Feathersite. The man called them King Kong Pinnacles, so that's where the confusion was, I guess that's the redneck way of saying Partridge Penedesenca LOL LOL LOL!!!!!!

Oh, lucky you!! We have black Penne's mixed with Copper Marans, we call them Copper Pennys, make sure you interact with them regularly as they are a flighty breed. Ours are lovey but they are handled daily. They were hatched in min November and are already clucking and crowing, They grow up quick. I have a good friend that raises them, let me know if you have any questions

err, I believe Black Copper Marans lay the darkest eggs.

As shown in charts like this one - Chart Marans will lay all the way to the end of that chart, most Welsummers and Penedesencas lay up to a 5 or 6.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but you'll have much better luck with Marans (not cuckoo) either way.

Would you really want one? Up to you. I know I do, and thus am getting a dozen hatching eggs.

My cuckoos have been bred to lay DARK eggs and they lay eggs way darker than most black copper's that I have seen.

Here's a pic of some of my cuckoo eggs

Very nice! I should've read and noticed your signature.

I guess what I meant is that most cuckoos are that way (often hatchery quality, since that is all they have)

As for black eggs, really, I just go with Cayuga ducks.
