I only found out because recently a chick i hatched came out with five toes and i wss thinking no way my juvenile silkie could be theur father so i counted my mature roosters toes under all the feathers amd sure enough he has five toes besides this trait he looks one hundred percent cochin. I purchased from s tractor store. Anyone had this occur? Im assuming this five toe trait is more common and prominent due to fact anything mixed with a silkie has an extra toe over regular four?

Could just be a random mutation. It's happened before. Can you post a picture of your juvenile Silkie? Is he a hatchery silkie? (I ask because I once had a hatchery silkie rooster father two normal-looking chicks (straight comb, four toes, white meat, no crest) out of a hatch of seven with a mixed breed EE/Wyandotte hen.)
