Thanks. This offer came from a University Extension person whose child is friends with my granddaughter. His first-time farmer wife went a little crazy with chickens, and now they are giving away dozens of eggs a week! They are also getting young ones, so he will give me some that lay, expecially the colored eggs! Thanks for the warning, tho'. I grew up as a 4Her and had the 'chicken project', and swore I would never have chickens again. But here I am. back living on the same land and doing things for my grandchildren's pleasure. I started out naming the hens, but when 3 were killed I decided not to get that up close and personal, especially since the rooster was doing enough of that for the whole crowd!
