Comfrey patch

I planted 8 root cuttings 2 weeks ago and they are already growing, looking forward to them reaching full size.

I let mine grow for three months to let them really get established.
The birds also got in there four times and slowed them down a bit.
I let the birds feast on 5/7. They ate for three days. Then about 5/12 I chopped any remaining leaves that had been trampled, level with the ground.
All the articles say cut them about 2 inches from the ground. Wrong.
Cut them off flush with the ground.
Then they can grow back all nice and fresh without any old stuff.

So, that was nine days ago, and my second growth is already a bushy 12"- 16" wide.
I'm seeing 2" of growth overnight some mornings!
I just gave them some semi-aged chicken manure so now they're going to really take off.

I cut the remains of this patch flush with the ground.
This was them Thursday, 11 days later.
They are looking a little yellowish so I spread about 8 gallons of coop sand around.
