Hi! I have a New Hampshire Red hen who is recovering from a really bad respiratory virus. I thought she wouldn't make it! Both of her eyes were completely swollen shut and her breathing was rattling. I had almost given her up. She has been slowly recovering and is looking much better, thankfully! Now my issue with her is that she is not eating much at all. Her layers crackle does not seem to appeal to her. She has shown interest in greens and seems to like proteins, so I know she wants to eat.

I would love some recommendations for some things to feed her to strengthen her up so she can rejoin the flock. Another thing to note, was that she was in the middle of a molt when she got sick.

Thanks!

If you're feeding her dry food, add some warm water to make a wet mash. One of the treatment texts specifies "easy to eat" foods. That would be wet mash, oatmeal (cooked and cooled), yogurt, etc.
