I have been enjoying reading threads and researching taking care of chickens for about 2 years now, planned how i wanted my tractor to look and figured out what kind of chickens i wanted. Then the neighbor called and said he had 5 baby chicks that were going to die in the cold, did i want them? I said you can borrow my brooder, he said no thanks come get these chicks. They had hatched out the day before and I don't think they had had any food or water. One little guy didn't make it, but the other 4 are now 11 days old, our tractor is almost completely built and these little ones are doing fine. Now can someone help me if I post pics, to determine the sex and breed?
I really would like some Buff Orpingtons as I want egg producers and no more than 6 in the tractor we have built.

Great It's about time you joined the forum! Welcome to BYC and the chicken adventure.

I would start a new thread under chicken breeds to post the pics. We can help you at least narrow down the breed, but you will probably have to wait a couple months to figure out the sex. Buff Orpingtons are a great breed. If none of them look like a Buff orp. maybe you could call some feed stores to find out if they have a couple of pullets to buy still.
