Hello all,

So I have a 3 year old white rock hen and a couple days ago I saw that she was prolapsed, she already stopped laying and hasn’t laid for 1 month, anyways I cleaned the area and separated her from the flock immediately. She eats fine but not too much. I try to clean the area and apply ointment daily but when I go to work I can’t do that. I noticed she stands with her belly up. I have gave her a warm espom salt bath but it seems like the area just isn’t going back in. So far it’s been 4 days. I’m just worried what will happen since it doesn’t seem be getting better and I’m unable to take her to the vet.

We had a couple of weeks old chick have this happen to and did the epsom soaks two or three times a day, then applied a generic Preparation H to it liberally and held it in for a minute or two. Each day it seemed to get slightly better until after about two weeks she was perfect again.

Is that yellow stuff your ointment? Just making sure she doesn't also have vent gleet. That would have a smell to it if she did, and would need probiotics and monostat. I'd give her probiotics anyway to help her digestive system.

I hope she recovers!
