Coming Soon "BYC Project 365"!

I like this idea. Yes, it's similar to some other threads and what some people already do but I know from experience how hard it is to start engaging daily on a forum this big. It's overwhelming and a little intimidating. The length of some of those ongoing threads is also very intimidating when it comes to wanting to start your own and I think this is a great way to encourage people who have wanted to/like the idea but just haven't yet.

I was already considering starting a thread along these lines for myself this year so I'll join in with this. Though the new year has already started :p

Happy new year Aussie .

:yesss: :highfive: Be the first, start your thread!

I hope chickens aren't a requirement! 🫣
* looks around at chicken-less property and cancelled chick orders *
It can be pictures of anything you want.

Here is an AI overview:
A 365 photo project is a personal challenge to take and often share at least one photograph every single day for an entire year (365 days), serving as a year-long visual diary to improve photography skills, document daily life, build a creative habit, and create a meaningful collection of memories. It's a way to stay consistent, learn your camera better, and find inspiration in the ordinary, with participants often sharing their work online using hashtags like #project365

Key aspects
  • Daily commitment: The core rule is capturing one photo daily, which can be done with any camera, from a phone to a professional DSLR, notes this Digital Camera World article and this YouTube video.
  • Skill development: It's a great exercise for learning composition, lighting, and exploring different settings and lenses.
  • Memory keeping: It creates a detailed visual journal of your year, capturing moments you might otherwise forget.
  • Flexibility: You don't have to be perfect; missing a day doesn't mean the project is ruined, and you can focus on composition over complex settings, say this Click Magazine article and this YouTube video.
  • Community: Many join online groups on platforms like Flickr or social media to share, get feedback, and find support, according to this Digital Photography School article and this Reddit thread.
Common themes & ideas
  • Documenting your home, street, or local area.
  • Using specific themes or challenges (e.g., a different color, emotion, or type of light each day).
  • Trying instant film like Polaroids for a nostalgic feel, as shown in this Canva article.

I really love this idea, but I doubt I could commit to a daily picture and post with my schedule for the next year. Unlikely this January-May, almost assuredly not next September-December. 😔

But I will look forward to following along with others' projects, even if it means catching up on them over a weekend most of the time. :pop

What's going on? New job? School?

You have a bunny, don't you? You photograph elevators, don't you? You have daily photo ops, don't you?

I don't recall anyone saying it has to be chickens.
That’s true. It may be a good reason for me to try photographing wild birds as well.
You don't have to have chickens!

I got the idea from a forum that I joined.
Unfortunately, that member is the only one doing them.

I initially thought about doing a topic one as they did. Then I decided to Google "project 365" and found this:

Their Themes & Competitions forum caught my eye, and I think there are a few good things to try, like the 52-week challenge, and some sort of "picture of the month", but we'll start new threads for those.

[/SPOILER]
This is fun. I will think about it!
