Commercial freezer = Incubator????

Since it's a commercial freezer and an old one at that it would draw to much power from my house. It's also very big and in NC we really don't have garages here or basements so it would have to stay outside but I would probably have to make a shelter for it. I live on the coast. Thing is, it needs a new thermostat for it to work. That's what my beloved husband told me 10 yrs ago. I may scrap it or put it on Craigslist. I do need the money more then a huemungus incubator. UGH...... decision, decisions.

Just sell it on Craigslist. I don't know how much they sell for, but I bet you could get some money to make the other incubator you are working on at the moment.

Yep, I'm trying to decide if I should scrap the metal or sell it on Craigslist. I would probably get more for it if I scrap it. I can't guarantee that it works after sitting in storage for 10 yrs. This is why I was wondering if I should make an incubator. I don't need a smoker.

It's stainless steel so yes, I'd probably do well at the scrap yard. Most likely the thing to do. Just hate seeing something like that go to waste. No dents or anything...... lol.

You could keep it outside as a incubator. its super insulated and would hold the heat really well.. mine is made out of a mini fridge and i just hatched over 100 quail with it setting on the front porch with temps dipping into the low 20s. and its probably not as well insulated as the freezer. just put it where it wont be in direct sunlight or else build a housing around it.. i would go for it...

I would try to sell it to someone to make it work, bring it back to life either as a freezer, or incubator. I really don't think you would have any need for an incubator that big, you are building another at the moment too aren't you?
