So the coop is going on the top of a dolomite pad which drains really well so I don't think I need sand as a base in the run. My question is, is it ok to do a deep litter in there with pea straw, will it still break down even though its on dolomite and not on dirt (sorry might be a stupid question but I'm just not sure its my first flock!). I plan on feeding them as much scrapes and organic matter I can get my hands on, so I want it to break down in the litter then use it in the garden. Also I live in Australia SA where winters are cold but not that bad and not too rainy, but the summers are stinkers so the straw should not mould. Advice would be very welcomed
