One of my ducks is currently at the vet after her foamy eye escalated into a nuclear bomb. Since she's most likely blind in that eye I'm wondering if I should try and get her a friend who also has a disability? She was already a bit of a loner in the group and I'm worried this might push her further out. Of course, there's no guarantee they'll buddy up, but I've read stories about that happening.

She's just about a year old. She had paired off with a hatchmate, but since being inside that other duck has made a new buddy.
Ok. I was just thinking that the younger the duckling is, the easier it is for it to bond with another duck. I would say that there are pros and cons. The big risk is that ducks can be violent and mean to other ducks, and I've seen a duck kill another duck. But it is really important for ducks to be social and have partners, and i've seen a duck bond with another duck that they've never seen before in a matter of seconds (when treats are involved)

That's a good idea. Another duck her size or smaller, maybe also with a vision issue would be a good choice. Or a duck with a mobility issue, someone slow for her to keep up with.
