Completely round duck eggs

So I have been incubating some eggs that are completely round . I have noticed that the air cell has stayed small even though I saw movement all through incubation.

My first egg has reached hatching, it struggled for a while to external pip but seemed unable to. I even put a safety hole in when I noticed it was getting weaker movements after a while.

My question is; is it normal for round eggs to have issues hatching? Are there any other surprises I should be aware of?

@WVduckchick I have had some round duck eggs before but don't think my ducks have ever hatched any.

I don’t think I ever got very many round duck eggs. Oblong, where it is hard to tell one which end the air cell is in, but not many very round. Sorry.

My Runners have given me a few round ones.

I have 5 more other than this one that’s in the middle of hatching. But I would certainly call them more round than oblong though one or two may fall into that category.

I have one that’s hatching this weekend. It is still absorbing the yolk. But was malpositioned with the foot above the head. So I have it in a cup just to make sure it can’t rush out of the egg. But it is taking its sweet time to absorb the yolk.

They have been laying all year.
