Are you confused because their faces are turning red? That's a sign that they're maturing, nearing egg laying age. Not that they're roosters.

My top pic is a girl whose face is turning red but she's not laying yet. Bottom pic is a laying hen.

I understand they are getting near laying age. But what age do they start laying. I did not think they would lay this young. They are a little over 2 months. I got them on 2/21/13. That's why I'm so confused. Also I bought them as straight run.

i have 3 black astrolorps i bought before them and they have no red.

looks like that one might be a rooster has the tail feathers that fountain maybe
