If I put a small compost pile in the run, is there anything I can put on it to help it break down and be safe for my chickens? And what should and should not go in the pile as far as food and leaves and grass? I've tried a compost pile last year in a composter and it still hasn't broke down. I knw the chickens will scratch at it and break things up but I just wondered if there is anything that will help it along.
