Got home yesterday and the wife mentioned that she saw maggots in the compost bin. We don't put meat scraps in the bin and my first thought was that one of our guests from last weekend thought it was a trash pile and dropped his BBQ scraps in there. So outside I go to see what I can do to fix it and low and behold we have Black Soldier Fly larvae all over the place in there. I'm going to stop turning it and let the larvae do what they do and start another bin for leaves/grass clippings/scraps.
Now if only my chicken coop was done..... and I had chickens.....
