compost pile in chicken coop

Has anyone ever thrown a turkey carcass in the chicken yard? If you only have a few chickens, you will have only bones in a matter of hours. Or have you ever had a chicken come up missing? Only to find the bones the next day, yup your chickens had a treat. Chickens LOVE meat, they are not just veggies eaters. If left in the wild they will eat anything that doesn't eat them first. I have never seen a chicken that doesn't love hunting in a compost pile
or any other place a bug or worm may be hiding. My personal opinion is that things that they find in the compost pile or in the wild, is better for them than some of the feed store products we feed them.

Mine love the compost pile. I do not put any animal stuff in it cause that would attract pred, so it is all veggie matter.I would have to fence it in to keep them out. Also I use coffee chaff for bedding and they sometime eat it. The only problem I`ve had so far is they like to stay up late then they sleep all morning so my roo does not crow until noon.

I know that chickens eat meat, and I do feed them cooked meat, I am a bit nervous about feeding them raw meat because it might be bad, but if the find a mouse I certainly wouldn't take it away.

I read in the Weston Price magazine that chickens have featherless faces because they eat raw meat and need to clean the blood off their faces.
