last night I went out to check on the hens and the newbs... All the newbs were in a nesting box cuddled comfortably, all the hens were on the perch except my cinnimon queen who was out in the run, huddled down in the mud? ( I can not get to them in the run ) today I went out to check them and they all seem to be doing great except Cinny, she was still huddled down but does get up and walk around some as I walked over, but not active like she usually is? I noticed upon closer inspection her wattle and comb are purple and wilted looking not perky and red as usual? She has a bit of a sloppy butt but she usually looks like that after laying an egg, since she was doing fine yesterday Im not sure whats going on since last night as they were all active while I cut the grass until late evening when I seen her sitting in the run as I checked on the new addition? Plenty of room inside for her as I posted pics so not sure if she is just cold from staying out or what? She is 3 years old. I threw some dry bedding in the covered section to get her off the wet ground for now

I dont think she is egg bound as she laid yesterday, she doesnt seem to be in distress. I tried to get her to come to me at the door but she just stood there looking around? No sneezing or coughing or any other signs of anything wrong? She seems to be the Head Honcho of the flock so not sure whats going on, this is the first time in 3 years any of them had an issue. Food and water is plenty and accessable 24/7, dry coop , only difference is the new birds were added yesterday.

Looked her over and nothing unusual with her, She just laid her egg so not egg bound. But dripping a yolk colored poo which she has been doing for about a week now that I have noticed.... not sure but its not yolk. The only thing I observed is she isnt very stable on her feet, kinda wobbly when she walks but not walking around much, just standing in place. Her wattle is red on sides but comb is still purple, just not as dark as earlier?

I believe Cinny will be dead by morning if not sooner. I looked out and she is staying in one corner ( standing ) until recently I looked out and she is laying on her side not moving and seen one peck her, no movement??? so I go out, she is alive but just laying there, she wont move, I tried to push her to the other side so I could reach in and grab her but she is not budging and heavy. ( Glad the new coop is walk in that Im building ) looked out and she is still where she was last, not sure whats wrong but I am thinking the worst is yet to happen.

I did manage to get her out, still alive but limp, she wont stand, just flops over on her side, head hanging limp, wattle and comb are dark purple/grey/black color. not flapping or moving her leg at all just blinks her eyes and slowly closes them. Im not getting any responses from her, not eggbound but feels really boney on her breast bone and all but she is quite large and heavy. No mites or other bugs on her, no sores or injuries, not sure what her lifespan is as she was an older hen I got from a neighbor at our old house that couldnt keep her. Mine are 3 years, I would assume she is 4 or 5 years ( maybe older ? )

:hugs It's possible age will claim her :hugs So sorry you're having to deal with this, it's very possible her heart is giving out, causing the lack of oxygen/discoloration of her comb/wattle. When she does pass, you could wrap her & in a plastic bag, refrigerate her body for a necropsy IF you want to find out any other possibility of her demise. Again sorry to hear of this.:hugs

The yellow stuff is most likely an infection.

One of these:

Most likely...

Are you in the US?
Each state has a lab where you can get a necropsy performed to find out exactly what is going on.
I am very curious as to what you feed your flock on a daily basis.

If you feed daily treats I highly recommend stopping and only offer your birds a complete balanced diet of crumbled or pelleted type feed.

Get her drinking fluids now—water, Gatorade at room temperature, or water with a spoonful of sugar, and dip her beak if necessary. If you have Poultry NutriDrench or something similar give 2 ml orally. She could be severely dehydrated due to her feeling weak or sick, and getting her rehydrated is needed. Cancer is very common in hens this age and older. She may have a reproductive infection, or other issue. If you should lose her getting a necropsy by your state vet, or doing one yourself at home, can be a way of finding out what is wrong. Feel of her crop in the morning to see if it is emptying.
