I picked up a pair this weekend and I am a bit concerned that they don't seem to be eating. They may just be settling in still but it seems like they should be eating by now. The first day was a bit rough for them at my house. They were freaking out when I first put them into their pen and kept flying into the top of the cage. Their head feathers were getting pretty beat up and the male even had a few cuts so I decided to clip their wings to avoid further damage. All seems to be well since then but they do not seem to be eating. I am offering nutrena grower/finisher and when they seemed to refuse that I started offering scratch grain as well. From what I can tell they have not eaten either of them. It is possible that they are eating some at night but I don't really notice any to be missing in the morning. I did throw a head of romaine lettuce in their water last night and they seemed to have eaten some of that or they at least tore the lettuce up pretty good. Any tips for getting them to eat better? I was thinking of trying to find some mealworms this weekend. They should feel pretty secure in the cage. I have a few potted plants in there and it is in a very quiet corner of the yard. The only time I disturb them is in the morning to offer fresh food and water.

If you can tell male from female...they are older right...they will eat just give them time. Don't bother them and dont even look at them...

They are a few months old. Not sure of the exact age but the male is starting to get his adult colors. I try not to mess with them any more than I have to. Right now I only go near the cage once a day to give food and water.
