Hi all!! First off I would like to say you guys have tons of great info here! I am new to the site, as well as to keeping chicks.
My current problem is with my rooster. I got him about 2 weeks ago. He started out great, was crowing beautifully all is well. He is prob about a year to 15 mths old by the way. We had a pretty good rain saturday. Come the next morning our boy sounded like a bullfrog, he had a very hoarse crow and only jeard it a couple of times. So a couple more days have passed and I don't think he has crowed at all since then. He is still eating and drinking fine....the only thing I have noticed is he is sleeping a good but during the day, I had never noticed him doing this.

I know you guys can't diagnose thru cyber space, buut could someone possibly lead me in the right direction? How do I get that sweet voice back?
Thanks in advance!!

If he shows signs of being sick you might put some Duramycin-10 in his water, this is for respiratory problems. Terramycin is a broad spectrum antibiotic if you are not sure. If he starts to sound hoarse when he breaths or it becomes labored I would use the Duramycin-10. For now apple cider vinegar (1TBS in 1 pint of water) might help prevent the need of antibiotics if it is just the start of a little bacterial infection. I give it to my girls every day and it has had no negative effects on them so I say every little bit helps. Hens might lose a little calcium if they drink it but you can add it to there food to supplement it.

Note: Apple Cider Vinegar is a just in case it has beneficial properties, a lot of people stand by the product so I recommend it as a cover your *** treatment.
