Concerned about shipping time of chicks

Considering ordering chicks rather than purchasing from TSC, but am concerned about how long it's going to take for shipping. Nearly everything I purchased for Christmas was late. I am still waiting for a couple items! Doesn't seem healthy for a box of chicks to be sitting in cold shipping containers. What are your thoughts/experiences. Thank you. I might drive to pick them up.

Christmas deliveries for me were slow as well. I just received chicks from TSC. I am new to raising chickens and I was worried the whole time they were traveling. Hoover Hatchery is in Iowa, TSC hatchery, and I am in upstate NY. I ordered the chicks on Jan 14 with next availability of Jan 20. They were shipped about midnight to the post office in Saint Paul, MN. It looked like they sat there for a day with tracking, but they were actually in a truck coming my way. They got to Rochester, NY in about 25ish hours, and arrived there about 1 am Friday morning. About 8:30 am, my local post office was calling me to say the chicks had arrived. I am a school bus driver, so I was able to get them by 9:30 am. There was packing foam on the bottom under the bedding and a piece of 1/2" thick foam in a circle around the box to keep chicks warm. I would just advise to keep your eye on them for first 48 hours to notice any that aren't doing as well. The picture is after they were home for just a few hours.
