On Saturday am we found a dead bird in the coop. No marks on the chicken at all just appeared to have died. One week prior saw the chicken lingering in the coop when the others were let out, but that was it. Went out Saturday pm and found my favorite chicken in a heap in the corner un able to use her legs and with a bluish black comb. It was to be pretty chilly here that night so I brought her in the house. Her comb pinked back up and she began holding her head up again. 24 hours later after starting antibiotics she is starting to eat a little and drink sugar water on her own instead of having it syringed to her. She is still not standing. She catches herself with her wings to stay up right. Really don't want to put this bird down but looking that way. Nothing has changed for these chickens at all. They don't free range, they have a big yard. Food is the same, as is water. No new chickens have been added in over a year. Chickens range in age from 2-4 years. The farmer next to us sprayed his field, but that was a week ago.
