Hi all,
New Duck mom here, I have Cayuga duck eggs in my incubator, the started hatching on Friday 5/21 I had three that day, one Saturday and one yesterday morning. I have 11 other eggs not really showing a lot of sign on movement and I’m starting to get concerned and discouraged, I checked them through the incubator glass this morning and I noticed that some of them have dark shadowing spots under the shell mostly on the air sac end and the embryo end. I started incubating on 4/24, should I be concerned or is this normal for them when they take their time, the ones that hatched first did it really quickly and the one that finally hatched yesterday took almost 3 days, am I just being paranoid and I’ll have more babies? TIA

The dark spots in the air cells (sacs) are ducklings breathing and it's called internally piping. They usually internally pip for about 24 hours and then they externally pip (make their first crack). And after 12-36 hours of externally piping they finally start hatching.
