This Partridge Rock girl is almost 20 wks. I noticed weeks ago that she carried her tail down all the time.she is clear of all diseases, eats, drinks, poops and acts completely normal. She's not depressed and is acti e in the flock.

Last week I examed her and that fluffy area in the higher tail region is hard and round.
It is all above the vent...almost like it is either a tumor or a birth defect.
The tail as you can see is not wry.
Has anyone ever seen this?

I am sad and fearful we will have to cull her.

As long as she's eating and acting normally, you won't need to cull her. I can't say what's wrong with her, but it does look odd. I've had a few hens and one rooster with a droopy tail like that, but not the hard round area. Time will tell if she lays normal eggs, though if you're wanting to raise chicks, I wouldn't use her eggs.

That's been my thinking 👍...just wondered if other had seen this.
I just picked her up...she was not happy...lol
The large round area was hard to define this time...it kinda surprised me. Just seemed more densely feathered.
